Dog Friendly Parks in Myrtle Beach

If you’re looking for an outdoor activity, the Myrtle Beach area has plenty to see and do with your pup. While you’re here on vacation, check out these top friendly parks to explore with your dog:

North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex

North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex is a new facility located just over the Main Street Connector in North Myrtle Beach. This park is used for many events such as tournaments, festivals and concerts but is also great for dog owners!  If you’re looking for a fun day outdoors with the family, this is the spot for you.

Let Fido hang out with friends at the Dirty Dawg Pet Wash Dog Park, a 3-acre area with two separate fenced in playgrounds for small dogs (>25 lbs.) and large dogs. The facility also has walking and biking trails, 7 picnic shelters and much more.

Huntington Beach State Park

Located on the south end of Myrtle Beach is Huntington Beach State Park, a nature lover’s dream! This South Carolina landmark is a combination of 3 miles of beach and a beautiful park all in one, which makes it a perfect place to bring your pet. Play Frisbee with Fido or go on a stroll through any of the park’s 3 walking trails. If you’re up for an overnight adventure, the park offers multiple camping sites for RV and tent campers that are complete with electrical hookup, hot showers and restrooms. Other fun things to do at Huntington Beach State Park include freshwater and saltwater fishing, bird watching and exploring Atalaya Castle, a National Historic Landmark. Four-legged friends are welcomed year round, but are asked to be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs are welcome in all areas of the park and on the south end of the beach, but are not permitted in Atalaya Castle and on the north end of the beach.

Barefoot Landing

Barefoot Landing is a popular place North Myrtle Beach because visitors can combine their love of shopping, eating and hangin’ with their dog all at the same time! This area is a popular shopping, dining and entertainment destination that is set along the Intracoastal Waterway. Luckily for dog lovers, Barefoot Landing is pet-friendly year round!

You and your furry friend can take a walk around the boardwalk and enjoy a variety of shops and boutiques. Many stores will have a bowl of water outside so your pet can stay hydrated on those hot summer days in the sun!

Almost all beach accesses in North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach have doggie-bag stations so cleaning up after your pet is made easy. During peak season, there are a few rules set in place for bringing your four-legged friends the beach. They are as follows:

North Myrtle Beach Dog Rules:

  • Your dog must be on a leash at all times while in public.
  • Dogs are allowed on the beach at any time of day between September 16 through May 14.
  • Dogs are prohibited on the beach between 9 AM and 5 PM from May 15 through September 15.

Myrtle Beach Dog Rules:

  • Your dog must be on a leash at all times while in public.
  • Dogs are allowed on the beach at any time of day from Labor Day through April 30.
  • Dogs are prohibited on the beach between 10 AM and 5 PM from May 1 through Labor Day.
